More about Kathleen

Job Description:
Oversee all operations of the preschool.

What year you started working at SMG:
1990.

What you like best about SMG:
It is a privilege to be able to work in an environment where I am able to express all parts of myself, my passion for education and forming little people, and practice and hopefully model my faith. To be able to help the children begin to "wonder" about who Jesus is and help their parents rediscover God in their lives is a gift beyond measure!

Preschool and Kindergarten Registration

St. Maria Goretti Preschool offers a developmental program to children ages two through Pre-K. The goal of our program is to bring little ones to a personal love of Jesus through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, our religious education program. This is accomplished in a nurturing atmosphere that allows each child the joy of discovering his or her own unique God-given talents and abilities. Our focus is on the whole child, their spiritual, emotional, physical, social and cognitive development. Our curriculum utilizes hands-on materials to present language, math, science, art and religion in an atmosphere of love and respect for each individual.

The St. Maria Goretti Kindergarten program is a full day - 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, Mon. - Thurs. and 7:50 am to 1:30 pm Friday. The curriculum is integrated and thematic. Twelve themes will be presented throughout the year. Each theme will integrate reading, social studies, science, music, art, computer and physical education. A variety of strategies are used including Phonics, Whole Language, Context Clues and Picture Clues to teach reading. The D'Nealian handwriting method will also be incorporated into the program. For math, we primarily use the Sadlier math program. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd will be used for their religious formation.

A tradition of excellence, a commitment to discipline, faith formation, a values-based education, an anticipation of a promising future, a code of conduct and universal respect, but most of all a Catholic school approaches education of the whole child: mind, body, and spirit. We believe every student should have the choice of a Catholic education and with your support we will secure that right for every child-one student at a time. Contribute to the Catholic Tuition Organization of the Diocese of Phoenix (CTODP) and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit up to your tax liability. When you file your state tax return you can divert up to $1,000 for married couples and $500 for singles to the CTODP.
