HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Dust off your Habitat shirts and start doing those stretching exercises - it's time for framing, dry walling, painting, landscaping, etc. St. Maria Goretti will be joining St. Pats, St. Thomas Moore and OLPH to begin a Habitat house. We are very fortunate that this house is located at 9014 S. Calle Batoua in Guadalupe, which means that another one of our outreach ministries will also benefit (Guadalupe Outreach).
We are gaining momentum on reaching our financial obligation of $16,000, but will continue soliciting funds and in-kind donations to continue with this ministry. The groundbreaking for the house is Saturday, September 15. Work begins at 6:30 a.m. and the groundbreaking will occur at approximately 10:00 a.m. We are in need of 7 SMG volunteers that day. It’s very rewarding to be a part of the construction — going from a pile of lumber to the frame of a house.
SMG is responsible for getting 20 volunteers for 3 work days: September 29, October 27 and December 1. Mark your calendars for any or all of the dates. A goal of December 15 has been set for the dedication, at which time we will need 7 volunteers. To volunteer for Habitat you must be at least 16 years old. This is a great opportunity for parents to work side by side with their teens on a very rewarding project. To sign up for a work day, please call Anna or Tom Goscicki at (480) 998-1386 or Kathy Nord at (480) 391-2923. God Bless You!!
St. Vincent de Paul Society
Next Monthly Food Drive will be on August 4th & 5th after all Masses. Thank you for your continued generosity towards those in need.
Remember that in months with a 5th Sunday there is a second collection to benefit our local chapter of St. Vincent de Paul. SVDP receives MANY requests for assistance ranging from food boxes to financial assistance with rent and utilities. Please help us to help the less fortunate.
