Safe Environment Training Update

As of August 1, 2006 Safe Environment Training “Set I & Set II” has been phased out and a new Safe Environment Training Program entitled “Called to Protect” is being rolled out. Called to Protect training is a professionally developed video-based educational program which teaches basic steps to prevent child abuse.

Overview of Called to Protect Training

Title	Targeted Audience	Length
Called to Protect™ Parents and Families *Individuals under 18 should not attend these sessions.	All parents of students in Catholic Schools and Religious Education Programs, all other parents who attend Catholic parishes. (Those who do not serve as a volunteer.)	1 ½ hours (1 session)
Called to Protect™ Ministries *Individuals under 18 should not attend these sessions.	All Clerics, Employees including Substitute Teachers, Coaches and all Volunteers (this year this training mandatory for those who volunteer with minors – but all volunteers are encouraged to attend)	3 hours (1session)
Called to Protect™ Youth	Youth in grades 6th – 12th grade	1 hour each (3 sessions)
